ARCHITEKTURA ČSSR 58-89

Documentary

Brutally beautiful, but brutally neglected. In addition to the gray flood of prefabricated blocks of flats, exceptional, spiritual and timeless buildings were also created in the second half of the twentieth century, which attracted attention in the West as well. Jan Zajíček shot a unique feature-length narrative probe into the pre-revolutionary architectural scene based on the theme of Vladimir 518. Against the background of impressive shots of the most interesting Czech and Slovak post-war buildings, supplemented by the testimony of leading architects and theoreticians, a plastic portrait emerges of a time where, alongside the official and controlled structured, much bold, modern and inspiring flourished.
